Howard/Runkel Landscape Associates Inc. was established in 1984 by John Runkel, Mike Fritchie and Denny Gallagher. The company was originally called Fritchie Landscaping. Shortly after its formation Jeff Howard joined the company. John Runkel and Jeff Howard were active managers of the company and in 1989 purchased stock owned by Mike Fritchie and Denny Gallagher. In 1990, the name was changed to Howard/Runkel Landscape Associates Inc.
John Runkel and Jeff Howard both have degrees in Landscape Architecture. This background has allowed us to become a community leader in the landscape design/build business. John and Jeff have over 40 years of combined landscape experience and training in the landscape industry.
In 2004, Sean Runkel joined our design/sales staff allowing us to better serve our clients needs. He has much training in landscape design and many years of practical landscape experience.
Over the years we have completed many residential and commercial projects. While most of our work happens within a 25 mile radius of Lima, Ohio we have projects in Columbus, Toledo, Dayton, Ft. Wayne, Bowling Green, Findlay and many other locations. We will look at any substantial landscaping project within a 1 1/2 hour drive of our home base.
Since 1984 we have grown from a rather small landscape firm into one of the more highly regarded companies in our area. We continue to try to be good innovators in both our landscape designs and installations so we can meet all of our clients needs.
